Even if a drinking water installation has been perfectly planned and professionally commissioned – there is always the risk of recontamination. Especially if the system is not operated as intended. In such a case, shock disinfection may become necessary. This means: the discontinuous addition of a disinfectant in high concentration. Chlorine dioxide has proven to be the best solution.
First, the system to be treated is completely emptied. It is then refilled with a disinfectant-water mixture at the application concentration of at least 6 mg chlorine dioxide per litre, as required by the worksheet, over a period of approximately 12 hours.
Well proven for shock disinfection: the two-component system JUDO JLS-DUO based on chlorine dioxide. JLS-DUO removes microorganisms and biofilm. It consists of one liquid and one solid component, it can be stored for a practically unlimited period and, complies with german DVGW worksheet W 557. For its application, we recommend the tried, tested and reliable JUDO MECHADOS dosing pump system, which is integrated into the main water supply.
The contamination of a water supply system is a very serious matter. The necessary measures are extremely complex and varied – from informing the authorities to determining the causes.
