Winnenden, March 2025 – JUDO Bio-balance is the ideal solution against limescale for housing associations, industry, commerce and anyone looking for environmentally friendly limescale protection on a large scale. Particularly sustainable and economical, the new system minimises limescale deposits on the entire drinking water installation up to 80 °C in the long term ­– with minimal maintenance and low follow-up costs. Over the course of the year, JUDO will be launching four versions of the new product with different nominal flow rates for 30 to 100 residential units. Larger systems with a higher nominal flow rate can be requested individually – for even greater performance.

The centrepiece of the system is the Bio-Carat® process: Limescale is dissolved as calcium, magnesium and hydrogen carbonate ions in the drinking water. The highly effective Bio-Carat® process stabilises the limescale and prevents it from settling on the inner walls of pipes, heat exchangers and fittings – instead, it is simply rinsed out every time water is drawn. This is made possible by the use of granules specially developed by JUDO, which are particularly suitable for the formation of so called ‘seed crystals’ and are prepared in an optimised process. Seed crystals are formed on the surface of the granulate. Other calcium and carbonate ions dissolved in the drinking water dock here rather than being deposited in the form of limestone on pipes, heat exchangers or other water-bearing technology. As soon as these seed crystals have reached a certain size, they are continuously released into the drinking water installation. In turn, further calcium and carbonate ions can dock onto these microscopically small seed crystals until they are finally flushed out. The system is effective in accordance with DIN 3607 and has been proven to reduce the negative effects of calcareous water in the drinking water installation – preserving the value of pipework, water heaters, taps and fittings, etc.

User-friendly and reliable: JUDO Bio-balance has fully automatic operation with PLC system control. The 4.3’ colour touch display visualises system statuses and serves as an operating, function and fault display: The main screen clearly displays the respective system components, allowing all operating and switching statuses to be monitored visually and called up at any time. The intuitive user guidance on the display guides you effortlessly through the menus and makes commissioning easy. System disinfection with an integrated bypass to safeguard the water supply is triggered automatically after 72 hours of operation. The system also has a backflow preventer and a safety circuit for restarting after a power failure.

As the Bio-Carat® process neither removes nor adds any substances to the drinking water, the drinking water quality remains unchanged – calcium and magnesium remain in the drinking water. This not only protects the environment, but also keeps operating costs at a low level: the low maintenance requirements in conjunction with the minimised running costs for operating materials and personnel ensure particularly cost-efficient, economical use of the system. The granulate only needs to be changed every five years. In large buildings in particular, damage caused by limescale in the drinking water installation can have serious consequences. Repairs or even the replacement of water-bearing technology are often complicated and particularly costly – JUDO Bio-balance reduces limescale deposits to a minimum and prevents the development of such damage and a reduction in energy efficiency. Owners and housing associations also score points with their tenants by maintaining the water composition.
