With JUDO Bio-balance, JUDO presents an environmentally friendly limescale protection system that has been specially developed for the requirements of the housing industry, the commerce and industry. Winnenden, March 2026 – Repairs and renovations to drinking water installations due to limescale deposits are a major cost factor in the housing industry – as well as in commerce and industry – that can be avoided. It is not without reason that the German standard DIN 1988-200 recommends stabilization or softening for water hardness levels above 14 °dH (equivalent to around 250 ppm CaCO₃) as the problems caused by limescale precipitation are clearly increasing. Those who decide to maintain the original water composition will find effective system technology for hardness stabilization in the JUDO Bio-balance series.
With the highly effective Bio-Carat® process based on established seed crystal formation, the systems guarantee sustainable, effective limescale protection for existing buildings. This not only facilitates the maintenance of residential complexes, but also saves unnecessary costs. This is because limescale-free heat exchangers increase energy efficiency: for every millimeter of limescale, energy consumption increases by approx. 10%. At the same time, it prevents malfunctions or failures of fittings and water-carrying technology, as well as clogged pipes due to calcification. Such cross-sectional narrowing of the pipes causes a reduction in flow and pressure losses. This in turn weakens the water jet from shower heads and other fittings, which can greatly reduce user comfort.
How does Bio-balance work? At the heart of the system is the Bio-Carat® process: it stabilizes calcium and carbonate ions dissolved in the water, preventing them from settling in the form of limescale on the inner walls of pipes, heat exchangers, and fittings. Instead, they are simply flushed out each time water is drawn. This is made possible by the use of granules specially developed by JUDO. So-called seed crystals form on the surface of these granules. Other calcium and carbonate ions dissolved in the drinking water tend to attach themselves to these crystals rather than hardening into limescale. Once they have reached a certain size, they are continuously released into the drinking water system. Further calcium and carbonate ions can then attach themselves to these microscopic seed crystals until they are finally flushed out. The effectiveness of the system is guaranteed in accordance with DIN 3607 and has been proven to reduce the negative effects of calcareous water in drinking water installations.

User-friendly and reliable: JUDO Bio-balance features fully automatic operation with PLC system control. The 4.3″ color touch display visualizes system statuses and serves as an operating, function, and fault display: The main screen clearly shows the respective system components. This allows all operating and switching statuses to be visually monitored and called up at any time. The intuitive user guidance of the display guides you effortlessly through the menus and enables easy commissioning. System disinfection with a bypass to secure the water supply is automatically triggered after 72 hours of operation. The system also includes a backflow preventer and a safety circuit. Thanks to its compact design, JUDO provides the most effective limescale protection without additives for building services engineering in the smallest of spaces. The system is easy to install and ready for immediate use. With low maintenance requirements and minimized running costs for operating materials and personnel, JUDO Bio-balance offers particularly cost-effective and economical operation. The granulate only needs to be replaced every five years.
Another advantage: since the Bio-Carat® process neither removes nor adds any ingredients to the drinking water, the quality of the drinking water remains unchanged – calcium , and magnesium remain in the drinking water. This not only protects the environment, but also gives owners and housing associations bonus points with their tenants.
