2,200 kilometers on the bike in just 70 hours and 57 minutes. That’s an achievement that speaks for itself – and was rewarded with the top spot on the podium at the Extreme Race Around Austria at the end of August. The two winners, Alexander Pillinger and Franz Scharler, who competed in a team of two, were delighted not only with their victory, but also with the numerous support they received from sponsors.
One of the sponsors was JUDO Wasseraufbereitung GmbH. “As a family business with a long tradition, it is important to us to support such events and especially the outstanding athletes. We sincerely congratulate the 2-man team on their success,” explains Rudolf Piepenborn, Sales Manager JUDO Austria.
At 2,200 kilometers, the Extreme Race Around Austria is the longest individual time trial in Europe and is also considered a qualifying race for the legendary Race Across America. The bike course leads along the roads near the border once around Austria. There are no stages and the time is counted throughout. The special feature of the team race is that the two- or four-person teams divide up the route individually.
